This information sheet provides a brief of the CIM Programme, offered at INtel College. The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) is the leading International body for Marketing .

You have to register with the CIM examining body in the UK as a student, either by post or online.

The CIM is committed to developing the marketing profession, maintain professional standards and improve the skills of marketing practitioners, enabling them to deliver great results for their organisations.

Course Aims

  • The programme is aimed at those either in a job that already involves marketing or those who wish to find out about marketing with the intention of starting out on a marketing career. The programme is divided into different levels with each level building up on the other. The Program helps provide the practising marketer with relevant, contemporary marketing content to equip them for the current global landscape. It equips the student with the knowledge, skills, and understanding to be able to carry out an essential and successful professional marketing role within the workplace.

  • The programme is also aimed at marketers working in an operational, supervisory or management role, who wants to develop their marketing knowledge and skills across a range of areas. It is suitable for Department managers, Functional managers, Product/brand managers, Account managers, Marketing executives and Business development managers.

Course Objectives

  • This course is specially designed to equip students, especially those targeting to work for international organizations, with contemporary marketing skills.

  • CIM is designed in a manner that will enrich the students with knowledge, skills and attitude on Customer Communication, Marketing Principles, Strategic Marketing and how to analyze Customer Experience.

  • The students will also be able to understand the key factors that facilitate and nurture innovation in organizations and apply principles of innovation throughout the entire marketing function. They will also gain knowledge on how to apply marketing metrics to establish effectiveness of marketing activities.

Structure

CIM is divided into different levels as explained below
The Level 3 Foundation Certificate in Marketing has been developed following extensive global employer-led research including small businesses, international organizations and numerous marketers across a range of marketing and business functions.
Those who successfully achieve this qualification will be able to understand the wider role of marketing and further indicate how their practical skills could be applied to their career progression within the marketing profession.

Duration:
  • Qualification is for beginners and takes 3 months.

Entry Requirements:
  • It is not necessary to have any previous experience or knowledge of marketing and the student can choose to study to suit your requirements and availability. However, evidence of achieving one of the following English Language qualifications within the last two years is also required if English is not the student’s first language: IELTS Academic Module with an overall score of 6.5 (each component pass mark must be 6.0 or above) or Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English grade B or above is required. CIM will consider other equivalent alternatives.
This qualification gives you practical skills and knowledge to execute tactical marketing activities and gain marketing credibility. This qualification is ideal for those working in marketing support roles if it plays a part in your job description.

Duration:1 year.

Entry Requirements:
  • A pass in the Introductory Certificate in Marketing or Have a Degree / Diploma in any field with less than 2 years working experience.

    If English isn’t your first language, you will also need to demonstrate you’ve achieved one of the following English language qualifications within the last two years:
    • IELTS Academic Module with an overall score of 6.5 (each component pass mark must be 6.0 or above) or Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English grade B or above. Note that CIM will consider other equivalent alternatives.
This level provides the Knowledge, skills and ability in relation to marketing planning and develops you across a range of areas. The qualification is a highbred of marketing with a considerable emphasis on management as marketers move from specialist aspects of marketing into either a functional or departmental role.
Duration:1 year.
Entry Requirements:
  • One or more of the following is required to gain entry to this qualification:
    1. • CIM Level 4 Professional Certificate in Marketing or CIM Level 4 Certificate in Professional Marketing.
    2. • Any relevant Level 4 qualification.
    3. • Foundation Degree in Business with Marketing.
    4. • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a recognized university, with at least one third of credits coming from marketing content (i.e. 120 credits in Bachelor's degrees or 60 credits in Master's degrees)
    5. • Professional practice (suggested two years marketing in an operational role) plus diagnostic assessment on to Level 6.

    If English isn’t your first language, you will also need to demonstrate you’ve achieved one of the following English language qualifications within the last two years:
  • • IELTS Academic Module with an overall score of 6.5 (each component pass mark must be 6.0 or above).
  • • Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English grade B or above. Note that CIM will consider other equivalent alternatives.
This is a marketing qualification that demonstrates specialist professional knowledge across many areas within an organization. It is ideal for marketers working at a strategic level or aspiring to do so who wish to gain a professional Masters level qualification.

The Chartered Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing is a challenging, high-level two stage marketing qualification that demonstrates specialist professional knowledge across many areas and a route to Chartered Marketer status. Stage one consists of four units, while stage two has one unit. The qualification aims to enable marketers to champion the customer experience and exert a strong influence on the organization to adopt a customer orientation, contribute along with other directors and senior managers to its competitive strategy, align the organization’s activities to the customer, and manage the organization’s marketing activities.


Entry Requirements:
As a minimum, the following qualifications and experience are recommended as a prerequisite for entry onto the first stage of the Chartered Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing:

Stage One
  • • CIM Professional Diploma in Marketing or the CIM Advanced Certificate in Marketing OR
  • • A Business or Marketing Bachelor's or Master's degree (or an equivalent qualification) where a minimum of half of the credits come from Marketing (i.e., 180 credits in Bachelor degrees and 90 credits in Master's degrees) AND
  • • A range of experience working at Senior Marketing Management level that allows potential students to provide evidence that they can meet the learning outcomes of the CIM Professional Diploma in Marketing if required to do so and pass the entry test for this qualification.
Stage Two
  • • Successful completion of Stage one or a previous version of the CIM Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing. AND
  • • A range of experience in a senior marketing management role that has provided potential students with ability to evidence competence in managing marketing resources and contributing to business decisions from a marketing perspective and would be eligible for MCIM status. They should be able to provide evidence that they have met the learning outcomes of the Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing if required to do so. ADDITIONALLY
  • • Students should be in a position (preferably working) to plan, agree and implement a work based project that is relevant to their business context. Graduates will also need the relevant experience, confirmed registration on our Chartered CPD Programme and two consecutive years of:
  • • Member CIM (MCIM) or Fellow CIM (FCIM) membership grades.
  • • Continuing professional development (CPD).

Note: Entry level is dependent upon the currency and relevance of your qualifications and experience. If English isn’t your first language, you will also need to demonstrate you’ve achieved one of the following English language qualifications within the last two years:
  • • IELTS Academic Module with an overall score of 6.5 (each component pass mark must be 6.0 or above).
  • • Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English grade B or above. CIM will consider other equivalent alternatives.

    Admission Process

  • 1. Complete the admission form (available at the college or downlad from our downloads link)

  • 2. Provide Certified copies of academic credentials AND 2 passport size photos

  • 3. Admission fee payment of KShs 10,000/- (ten thousands shillings only) by cash deposit direct to the college account or by cheque payment, or by MPESA (PAYBILL)

  • 4. Submit items 1-3 above to the college reception
